Last Friday, SOFA was visited by Al and Daphne who rescue dogs in Gt Yarmouth who only have a few days left before they are put to sleep. These dogs are known as ‘death row’ dogs.. Dogs that haven’t been claimed by their owners or dogs that no-one wants… It is very sad but, thanks to people like Al and Daphne, a lot of these dear animals do end up in brilliant, forever, homes… SOFA used some of its money to buy dog food which will be given to the foster carers of the rescued dogs. Thank you, Al and Daphne for the wonderful work you do… Most of these dogs haven’t been microchipped… Another good reason for compulsory microchipping…
You may wonder why my SOFA friends are dressed rather strangely! Well, mum tells me that everyone at school, including the staff, could dress up as a book character! Mum says it was great fun… I did wonder why she looked so strange when she left for school in the morning… hehehe… woof, woof!!
I can’t understand why mum didn’t let me go to school…. I could have gone as a book character…’The Hundred Mile an Hour Dog’ … woof, woof…

This is my ’sister’ Bella.. She is about fourteen years old and, as you can see, she is wearing a coat. Bella really feels the cold now but she loves to go out in the snow. So, in this really cold weather, she wears her coat. It’s important for us not to be out in the cold for too long especially dogs like me who only have thin natural coats. Mum says that if I go out for too long, I will need to wear a coat too! I don’t mind because they look pretty cool!! Woof woof!

This is my ‘brother’ Winnie racing around in the snow! He loves playing in it and charged about for ages yesterday morning. I will be out, this morning, enjoying the fun in the snow with my ‘brothers and sisters’. Mum says we need to check the bird feeders and outside water because it keeps freezing all the time… Have a woofing wonderful day everyone… And keep warm!

It’s great to see Murphy enjoying the snow! He had a lovely Christmas and had lots of fun! I did too! Was great chasing around in the snow carrying my new toy.. Winnie, Susie, Tam and Bella had a great time too… We all love the snow but are always pleased to be back in the warmth of our house.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Here is my friend Laurel.. She is a beautiful, brave dog and the very much loved pet of Steve who has written a brilliant book about her life. It is called ‘LAUREL – EVERYONE’S BEST FRIEND’. Laurel is almost 13 and she is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. All the profits from Steve’s books go to Staffie rescue centres and some local animal sanctuaries.. Steve tells me that Laurel is so friendly and just loves everyone… Like me of course!! Woof Woof!!

I am really pleased with this calendar because it is full of all my lovely animal friends who share their lives with SOFA members! There are dogs, cats, horses, tortoises, guineapigs, rabbits, chickens and even some Highland cattle! On the cover are my two special friends, Lexie and Poppy. They are both rescued and microchipped, of course! Hehe!
If you would like a calendar, please let me know… I can email, with mum’s help…. info@speaking-out-for-animals.co.uk

My friend, Olivia thought it would be a good idea to draw a picture of Mr Microchip on the playground and to see if the SOFA Club could collect enough coins to fill him up! I think it was a great idea and Lilyella drew the picture, in chalk and last Thursday several SOFA members collected more than enough coins to fill Mr M, so they drew a bone to fill as well! Mum tells me that yesterday lunchtime, SOFA girls counted the coins and the amount that was raised came to £38.54! Woof, woof to all the SOFA girls and to everyone who gave some money… Nearer to Christmas we, and I hope I can go too, will present a cheque to a local animal charity..

Well it’s that month again! A scary one for many of us animals… I stay in as much as I can when the fireworks are about and mum puts on some music or we all settle down to watch something good on the television… well, something mum likes anyway! We are lucky because mum doesn’t tell us off if we make a fuss and she just stays calm and lets us go to our favourite place where we feel safe… in our case, it’s the sofa!!
Happy and safe November to you all… Woof woof!!

Tam and I went to see the Brownies, last week! We had a great time with them and they gave us lots of pats and hugs, it was lovely! We were lucky to be invited and the 31st Norwich Brownies told us that they were working towards their friend to animals badge. They certainly were great friends to us! Good luck Brownies and thank you for inviting us! We did share our biscuits when we got home! Thank you for giving them to us… Woof woof for now!

My goodness my friends in SOFA have been working hard! They had a visit from a very important person who they are hoping will support the microchipping campaign. Chloe Smith is a Member of Parliament and represents Norwich North. SOFA wanted to talk to her about how important they think microchipping is. Mum says everyone worked very hard and that it was a great meeting.. Fingers or paws crossed that Chloe supports us in Parliament…
Chloe is in the centre, at the back.
