Raising money for the fabulous Hillside Animal Sanctuary!

Saturday, May 28, 2011 17:43

Mum and her good friends from the SOFA club, went to visit Hillside Animal Sanctuary last week. The sanctuary takes in all different animals which haven‘t been looked after well and try to find new homes for them. Unfortunately I was still feeling poorly so I couldn’t go with them. Mum tells me that they donated the money which was raised by SOFA doing a sponsored pogo challenge. They raised £708.62 altogether. Mum told me that my SOFA friends went to visit the dogs who were so excited that they were barking mad (the dogs not my SOFA friends). Now that I’m feeling a lot better, perhaps mum will let me go along with them next time. Woof, woof.

Raisins and near disaster!

Saturday, March 5, 2011 9:03

Last Wednesday will be a day I remember for a very long time! As many of you know, I like food! Well, I found some chocolate raisins in the house… almost a whole packet and I thought it would be a very good idea to eat them! But, as I found out later, it definitely wasn’t a good idea and resulted in me spending the day at our vets’! Mum found out very quickly, what I had done and took me to the vets’ immediately… There, the lovely nurse, Julie, gave me something to make me sick so that I would bring up all of the chocolate raisins…. It wasn’t very nice and later on, in the morning, after I’d had a blood test, the vet, Monica, noticed that my kidneys were not as good as they should be, so she put me on a drip, to flush out my system, as she put it! Not a very pleasant experience and I was so pleased to see mum at 5 o’clock because I knew then that I was well enough to go home… Mum says I had a very lucky escape and that raisins are highly poisonous to us animals, and so is chocolate… It was a really horrible day because everyone felt bad about it… Mum because there were chocolate raisins in the house and me because I found them and ate them! I am so lucky to be alive, so please, please all my human friends, make sure we animals don’t ever eat chocolate and raisins.. I have to go back and see our lovely vets, in two weeks, for another blood test to see if my kidneys have been damaged… paws crossed that they are not… Woof woof for now…

SOFA Club Meeting at THLPS tomorrow, Tuesday 25th January…

Monday, January 24, 2011 18:42

Well, I’m off to school tomorrow to meet, for the first time, all my new friends who have joined SOFA! Mum tells me that I am going in to work at Thorpe House Langley Preparatory School…. Many of you might not know but…. I have been SOFA’s mascot for about 7 years now and I still love it, especially when I get to spend some time with my friends… Tomorrow afternoon we are going to work together and talk to parents of our new members and friends, about why we think microchipping of dogs should be law!

Some of you might remember that I was filmed by the BBC whilst being microchipped! I would hate to get lost and mum tells me that my microchip would get me back home to my family and friends, so I think it’s a really good thing because I can’t tell anyone where I live because I can’t talk and people don’t seem to understand barks! I wish they did, but they don’t… So microchipping is the very best way to make sure that I get home ok! Watch this space because there should be more tomorrow, after my visit to THLPS!

SOFA taking shoe boxes of treats and food for the dogs in the care of Hillside Animal Sanctuary

SOFA taking shoe boxes of treats and food for the dogs in the care of Hillside Animal Sanctuary

New SOFA members who are based at Thorpe House Langley Preparatory School, visited Hillside Animal Sanctuary who now have kennels for unwanted dogs…. I wasn’t able to go today but mum told me all about it when she got home and anyway, I knew she had been making a fuss of other dogs because I could smell it!  My mum can’t resist them!  Anyway… SOFA member, Daisy, thought it would be a great idea if SOFA could fill shoe boxes of food and treats for the unwanted dogs in Hillside’s care, so that they can open them on Christmas day when, I hope mum doesn’t forget, we have some special treats too… Mum said she was so impressed with the new SOFA members and the wonderful care that Hillside gives the dogs but how sad she is that so many dogs are unwanted…. I told mum that she should be pleased that a photographer from the newspaper came and, with a bit of luck, some of those wonderful dogs will get a new home because of the publicity SOFA got for them….  I really hope so…. because I was one of those lucky dogs who was taken from a horrible place and into a home where I am loved, not just by my mum but all the fabtastic SOFA members too!

A ‘Lush’ day in Norwich..

resize - Lush outside

Yesterday was amazing… As you can see, I am with some of my friends outside the fantastic Lush store, in Norwich.  Lush is great because it is helping us to campaign against greyhound racing… They sell some of the most amazing products, for humans, although mum embarrassed me by asking if there was something suitable for my coat!  Lush is also brilliant because none of its products are tested on animals, which must be good!Mum is really pleased with me, too, and to be quite honest, I feel quite proud too, because this was my first time in the city and it was really busy! I was ok as lots and lots of people made a fuss of me and some even gave donations to help Action for Greyhounds who saved me!  Some even wanted to take me home!  I thanked them but said I was very happy with mum and my other ‘brothers and sisters’ but we told them that there are thousands more, like me, who also need to have a loving, forever home..

All in all, a ‘greyt’ day out…. My goodness I was tired after!

New members of the SOFA Club

New members of the SOFA Club

I am proud to announce the latest new members to our special club…

Here they are with two beautiful rescued greyhounds who share their lives with a wonderful family who give them lots of love…  My friend Chloe is holding a poster which is advertising that it is a special month which is encouraging kind people to adopt a dog rather than buying one….  As you know, I am a rescued dog, so this is very special to me… Thank you to my new friends for advertising this…  Woof woof and bye for now…  Lots of love and licks from me….Mr B!!

Rescue a dog, please

Rescue a dog please!

Rescue a dog please!

I am a rescued greyhound, as you know and now I would like to do my best to get other dogs, like me, a forever home where they will be loved and cared for, like me!

Our tortoise friends need help…

Wednesday, August 4, 2010 6:46

This rescue is amazing and, one day, I hope mum will take me to visit… As you know, I love all animals and, although I have never met a tortoise, I’ve heard how amazing they are.. Well, for example, how many of us can live to over 100?
Anyway… have a look at their website and, if you are in Cornwall, call and see them!
